Very nice area, not too much tourist but that might be due to Corona too. Easy access to the tourist attractions for the less mobile people.

We loved Quedlinburg a lot. Brockenbahn steam train was expensive but very nice. Thale is at the northwest edge of the Harz area.

There are numerous scenic footpaths as well as bike trails in the area. It is also not far from the great places such as Wernigerode, Goslar, Brocken mountain etc.

Great cable car up mountain. Great hikes along the River Bode. Loads of cheap places to eat and drink ie Cable Car restaurant very reasonable simple food and kiosks and lovely hotel at top of mountain!

The whole area perfect for hiking trips. Beautiful spa although a little pricey. We traveled with our daughter and her family, 4 children 11 and under.

The weather was good so it was easy to enjoy the mountain rides and play parks. The last day we took a bus ride to Wernigerode which is good for shopping and very pretty.

We really liked the ski lift and the cable car! That brought us up to a great spot for taking pictures. On our last day we visited Teufelsmauer which was also one of our most favorite parts of the trip.

We ate at the greek restaurant Athos, which we definitely recommend for the great service and food! It was a nice place in the Harz. Thale offers some nice cafes with enjoyable local meals.

There is also the Hexentanzplatz, the tierpark and treetop climbing. Nearby is the new Titan bridge, we didn't have time to visit and apparently it's very busy.

I would say that Thale is by far not the best place in the Harz but it is still nice place to visit especially with the river running through.
