It shows the dark, fucked up side of humanity and it's quite ironic, considering who directed, but i'm just here to appreciate the art.

I'd like to preface this review by saying that my personal distain for its director didn't affect my overall opinion of the quality of this film, but I wouldn't blame anyone for being unable to get into this film due to the director's abhorrent actions.

Chinatown has one of the best screenplays I've seen in quite a long time. Every scene here has a purpose and depth, but the film never drags due to its ambition.

Every line of dialogue is perfectly delivered, and the depth found within the story is quite large. I absolutely adored the tone of this film, and its homage to film noir of older days.

The performances here are all fantastic, with Jack Nicholson's iconic…. A wonderfully brooding, suspenseful revisitation of the land of film noir, Chinatown is not only one of the greatest detective films, but one of the most perfectly constructed of all films.
